A Well Day Spent, Indeed

As I promised in my last post, here is another post! How ’bout that blizzard, huh? Ahhhh, I’ve been spending most of my days inside but spent today in its entirety in Chelsea, where aptly both Chelsea Piers and Chelsea Market are located. My friend Cara and I took a little trip (a cab ride) to the Piers, merely to go ice skating and golfing. For lunch, we had some savory crêpes at Vive la Crêpe, which satisfied my craving for the delightful French snack. I haven’t ice skated in years and haven’t golfed in weeks, so I was a bit out of practice. It was fun and not too expensive, nonetheless.

Seasons greetings! Happy (belated) Holidays/Happy Boxing Day/Happy Snow Day in NYC! Ignoring the fact that I haven’t posted in months, today was gruesome in terms of weather! It snowed quite heavily, the sky turned purple(?!), and there was lightening and thunder. I spent the day inside, eating and playing video games, rather than getting disappointed over delayed flights! Other than that, I hope everyone is doing well and is safe with their families .

More posts and more pictures shall be coming, do not fret! For now, enjoy the Chanel ss 2011 runway show video below, hopefully as much as I did!

A Weekend of Vampires

Major apologies for the hiatus! This a bit late, about two months late actually, but nonetheless! In the beginning of September, I attended one of the three Vampire Weekend concerts. It was beautiful and probably one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I don’t even have the words to describe the evening! I left Radio City Music Hall with the remnants of tunes, a vinyl version of Contra, and a t-shirt. If you don’t know who Vampire Weekend or Ezra Koenig are, you should without excuse look them up.

Dreadful September…

Does anyone feel as if the summer started out slowly and ended too quickly? As summer is coming close to an end, back-to-school shopping is inevitable. I spent the weekend with my mum buying things for my unfortunate uniform; I felt obligated to find things that could be on the edge of non-uniform. I bought bib shirts and blouses with unique collars and bought socks that could be worn by a skanky grandma.

I have yet to go school supply shopping but getting fun pencils, notebooks, backpacks, and pencil cases always make me sort of happier to be at school. Here are some ideas to make school a little bit better and your uniform a little less… uniform.

Another concert, another pair of sore toes. Saturday, my brother and I went to a Crystal Castles concert at Terminal 5. One word to describe the night: ACE. The music was unbelievable; it should be a crime to not have danced. I was surprised I had enough energy to keep dancing until 2am, especially since Destructo and Sinden, who opened for Crystal Castles, performed so phenomenally. I left with a muffled sound in my ears and my new Crystal Castles t-shirt. I guess you could say it was an incredible evening.

I’ve recently been looking at photographers not only because I love photography, especially film, but because I am currently searching for a film camera (or two) since my Minolta x300 that I bought from England broke. Just this week, I found these gorgeous photographs taken by Paul Phung and I just had to show it to you! They’re dreamy, a bit eerie, and definitely intriguing.

Besides my ongoing search for the perfect camera, I am now in the works of making my Radovely logo, with my brother who is also working on his own line of graphic tees. Hopefully the logo will be finished and beautifully posted on the blog and on my twitter account; it’s all going to be rad!

One Life Stand

Last Wednesday, my brother and I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at Central Park Summerstage. Awesome food and music! Performing were Hot Chip, Holy Ghost!, and Hercules and Love Affair. We commenced our late afternoon excitement with some veggie dogs and complimentary coconut water, then wandered across the fake lawn (fawn?). And ate a cup of banana chip ice cream, can’t ignore the ice cream! The entire night was fantastic, and we left after Hot Chip’s encore with sore toes and complete clamminess. But it was utterly worth it.

Last night, my friend Cara and I went to another, but smaller concert at Webster Hall. We didn’t take pictures of the bands but still had a rad time jumping around and avoiding being shoved by sporadic and sort of fake mosh pits (fosh pits? mosh fits?). On the bright side, we went to Momofuku for a lovely pre-concert meal. We shared a bowl of soft serve, that was of a very peculiar flavor. I often enjoy tasting new flavors, especially when it comes to frozen yogurt, but their soft serve flavor was Sweet Pea. I honestly can’t say if I liked it or not, it was just…different. Also found my new favorite market and a Chinese bistro that’s supposedly really good called Plump Dumpling, possible deliciousness?

Home Sweet Manhattan

What better to do than to watch a beautiful film on a beautiful Sunday! Especially if that means watching Woody Allen’s Manhattan. Besides the fact that I simply adore old films, I am utterly enamored of Woody Allen movies. This movie in particular, Manhattan, stars Woody Allen (of course), Diane Keaton, and Meryl Streep. The entire movie is lovely, wonderful, and perfectly quirky. I guess you could say its a film about romance, but it’s a bitter-sweet tale of a man’s love for the city.

Because the movie was made in the late 70s, the way the characters dressed illustrated that specific moment in time. Loved it! Woody Allen wore his signature glasses throughout the entire movie, while Diane Keaton constantly wore a crisp blouse with a broad-shouldered blazer. Meryl Streep, with her long luscious hair, wore silky blouses and long skirts. And the young Mariel Hemingway, who played Tracy, also dressed beautifully. If you haven’t seen this movie or even heard of it, then you must watch this delightful film!

Manhattan isn’t just great, it’s the kind of movie that makes you wish you’d made it. No, I’ll go further still: Manhattan makes you wish you were a better person. ~Neil Labute, filmmaker

Oxford Jazzies

Oxford shoes and classic lace-ups have made their way back as an enormous trend. Luckily for us, Osborn Shoes has a particular array of oxfords. Although these shoes have the basic lace-up design and shape, the patterns on the shoes are incredibly retro, bright and bold, one-of-a-kind, and fantastically eco-friendly. Each shoe is handcrafted from traditional and recycled Guatemalan fabric. Osborn shoes also have booties, but they’re line of oxfords has the loveliest name: Oxford Jazzies. Can it get more perfect?
